Lufttrocknende Harze auf der Basis von flüssigem cis-Polybutadien

The air drying of liquid cis-polybudatiene was investigated in comparison with the drying of liquid polybutadiens having predominantly trans- or vinyl-double bonds and of natural drying oils. The drying process was studied by infrared spectroscopy and by measuring the weight increase of films.
Liquid cis-polybutadiene showed in comparison with other oils a faster surface- and trough-drying.
Maleinized oils obtained by addition of maleic anhydride to liquid cis-polybutadiene are also characterized by their fast oxidative drying properties. Applications of maleinized oils for fast drying alkyd resins are discussed.
