Abstract

Complex formation between CuII and a series of fourdentate ligands, formed from dicarboxylic acids of variable chain length and two molecules of ethylenediamine, has been studied by potentiometry. Contrary to expectation the oxalic acid deri- vate shows the strongest tendency to form a binuclear chelate. On the basis of comparison of stability- and acid dissociation constants, elucidated with the help of digital computer methods, probable structures of the chelates formed in solution are discussed.
