Abstract

The versatility of the addition of lithium-carbenoids to cyclopentenone has been tested with respect to the attempted synthesis of fulvenes. In fact 6-halofulvenes as well as 6,6-dihalofulvenes are available by this reaction sequence, but so far the yields are low.
