Abstract

A modern industrialized nation must not leave the choice of major thrusts in research and education entirely to chance. Rather, a concerted effort should be undertaken, jointly by Universities and Industry, early to recognize important developments of the future. The resulting insights ought to be discussed with respect to their effects in research and educational policies.
