Abstract

Research methodology and research efficiency are subjects hardly delt with within the scientific communities of chemists or chemical engineers.. Mostly it is taken for granted that scientists know about the means and ways to carry out research and research projects. Experience has shown that this is not always the case. For this reason the author endevours to bring up the different research methods, compare them and evaluate their shortcomings. Furthermore the different aspects influencing research effectiveness are analysed and a research effectiveness factor is defined. The paper although dealing more specifically with chemical engineering should be equally applicable to every type of experimental science.
