Neue Elektronen-Relais und erstmalige Verwendung von Ruthenium-trisbipyrazyl zur photochemischen Wasserstoffentwicklung

Ruthenium-trisbipyridyl (Ru(bipy)32+, 1) as the sensitizer and methylviologen (MV2+, 2) as the relais compound for the sacrificial hydrogen production have been replaced by ruthenium-trisbipyrazyl (Ru(bipz)32+, 3) and by various viologens methylated in positions 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Photolysis show best results using the Ru(bipz)32+/MV2+ combination but with an early fatigue of the sensitizer. The temperature dependent H2 production and corresponding activation parameters are reported for some relais compounds.
