[WCl4(NSeCl)]2 (1) is synthesized by the reaction of Se4N4 with tungsten hexachloride in boiling dichloromethane. The complex 1 reacts with tetraphenylphosphonium chloride forming brown crystals of Ph4P[WCl5(NSeCl)] (2) from CH2Cl2 solutions. The monoclinic crystals (space group C 2) are twinned in a way that renders the crystal structure determination rather difficult as the monoclinic angle of β = 91° causes many reflexions of the two twins to lie closely together. Nevertheless, it was possible to elucidate essential features of the structure.
