Abstract

The incubation time of the reaction of NH4HF2 with P4O10 – 37 minutes at room temperature – can be reduced by the presence of aqueous vapour and by the catalytic action of several metals. This reduction depends on the degree of humidity and the active surface of the metal catalyst added. PO3F2-, PO2F2- and P2O5F22- ions were shown to be the reaction products by means of cellulose chromatography.
