Abstract

The solubilities in water and eleven organic solvents are given for N-methyl-1-naphthylcarbamate (insecticide Sevin), as well as the distribution coefficients for Sevin between some solvent pairs. Since the Nernst’ distribution law is fulfilled, no association takes place. The maximum attainable yields for the extraktion of Sevin by various solvents are calculated. Finally, a method for cleaning extracts for the determination of Sevin residues in food-stuffs is suggested.
