Abstract

Oscillatory behaviour in the redox potential of the tiron/BrO3-/H2SO4 system is reported for the uncatalyzed, the cerium(IV) as well as the ferroin catalyzed systems. The effect of temperature, the rate of decrease in [tiron] were investigated for the catalyzed and uncatalyzed systems. Pentabromoacetone, a reaction product, was isolated from the reaction medium.
