The importance of the emission spectrography in the trace investigation with the elucidation of crimes is demonstrated by some practical cases.
This physico-chemical analysis method which is well known for its extremely high sensibility is especially suited to analyse microscopically small traces. This is a great advantage in view of the more and more refined action methods of criminals.
A new preparation technique was developed by which the trace-material can be tabletted by an especially constructed pressingtool. A short colour film has been turned at the Laboratory of Criminal Technique at the Prosecutor’s Office Basle-City, demonstrating the principle of the emission spectrography and the preparation-technique.
In connexion with other micro-methods as: microscopy, microcristallization, paper and thin-layer chromatography, microfluorescence and infrared photography, the emission spectrography is valuable method which should not be missed at an analytically working police laboratory.
