Zu den Umvinylierungen mit Oxybenzoesäuren

Abstract

A 20 percent yield of p-vinyloxybenzoic acid was obtained by vinyl interchange between phenyl vinyl ether and p-hydroxybenzoic acid in presence of mercuric acetate. After a similar experiment with salicyclic acid neither o-vinyloxybenzoic acid nor the starting material could be isolated. Obviously a rapid reaction with the carboxylic group, probably formation of cyclic acetals, had occured.
