The Schiff bases obtained by condensation of 2 mol. acetyl- or benzoylacetone with 1 mol. ethylenediamine and its homologues have been coupled with various diazonium-salts to yield new bishydrazo-(bisazo-) dyes. A study on the chelation-behaviour of these dyes with Cu(II)-, Ni(II)- and Co(II)- and their ring-closure to bistriazoliumsalts in presence of Cu(II)-Cl2 and N-bromosuccinimide is reported.
