Abstract

The determination of Al, Mg, Ca, Na, Mn und V in rocks by instrumental neutron activation analysis is described. The method involves a reactor irradiation with a pneumatic transfer system, a measurement of the γ-ray spectrum with a NaI-crystal and a least square analysis of the spectrum by computer; each step takes at most a few minutes, and no chemical reprocessing is required. Details of the method and some typical results are given.
