Abstract

Acetoxy-tropylium-fluoroborate (4) may be prepared by addition of tropone to acetyl-fluoroborate at low temperatures. The tropylium salt (4) reacts easily with sodium-cyclopentadienide and methyl-lithium to give the acetoxy-cyclopentadienyl-cycloheptatrienes (5a) and the acetoxy-methyl-cycloheptatrienes (5b) respectively.
