The Mechanism of the Photodissociation of 1-(Chloromethyl)naphthalene in Solution
DOI:

The title compound (1) dissociates homolytically from its lowest triplet excited state as well as from its first and second singlet excited states, in competition with internal conversion. The large resonance stabilization energy of the naphthylmethyl radical is an important factor in the energy balance.
