Abstract

A further ring system, [2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2]metacyclophane was isolated in pure state by chromatographic separation from the crude reaction product of a Wurtz reaction with α,α'-dibromo-m-xylene. The structure of the new system was confirmed by NMR and mass spectra.
