Substratspezifität und aktives Zentrum der Chlorophyllase

The enzymic specifity of the chlorophyllase, the chlorophyll hydrolyzing enzyme, was investigated and found to be the same as described in the literature, i. e. the substrate specifity is determined by the two «Extra»-H-atoms at C-7 and C-8 of the phorbine skeleton. The enzyme is inhibited by SH-reagents and reducing agents. On the other hand enzymic activity is increased by treatment with oxidizing agents. Consequently the active site of this enzyme might involve a disulphide group.
