Abstract

The two monomers vinyl acetate and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate were copolymerized by a radical initiator. The reaction was interrupted at different rates of conversion and the amount of the residual monomers was determined. Copolymerization equation (5) was used in its integrated form (6) to calculate the relative amounts of the two monomers in the polymer as a function of the rate of conversion. A good relation between the experimental results and the calculated values was found at low conversion rates.
