Effect of Solvents on the Spectra of 1,5-Disubstituted 2,4-Dithiobiurets

Abstract

The ultraviolet absorption of several 1,5-disubstituted 2,4-dithiobiurets was examined in a series of solvents covering a wide range of polarity. Transition energies were plotted against Z-values. A linear relationship was observed between the transition energy (ET) and Z-value for π→π* transition. These transitions are identified as the charge-transfer (c.t.) transition.
