The actual interest in the construction of cyclic compounds via ring expansion reactions is demonstrated in the first chapter by means of typical examples. In the second part, some reactions of 3-amino-2H-azirines are discussed, which lead by selective cleavage of one of the azirine bonds to five-, six-, seven- and eight-membered nitrogen heterocycles. The third part covers recent advances concerning repeatable ring expansion reactions, the most attractive approach to macrocyclic systems.
