Abstract

Tris(trifluoromethylthio)amine dissolved in pentane is oxidized by sodium hypochlorite at 0°C (3.5 h) to (CF3SO2)3N. Similarly the known (CF3SO2)2NNa is prepared from (CF3S)2NH. Actually (CF3SO2)3N is the first tertiary sulfonamide at all.
