Abstract

Complexing agents of the type: 2-pyridyl-(CH2)n-2-pyridyl with n-values from one to six have been investigated. The stability of the complexes with Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Ag+ and Hg2+ have been determined. There is generally a strong decrease in complex stability when n is increased from 0 to 2. An almost constant value is reached by a further increase of the chain length n. The silver and mercury complexes behave exceptionally.
