Abstract

A relation has been observed for 4'-acceptor-substituted 4-dimethylamino-trans-stilbenes between the fluorescence depolarization and the rate constant of radiationless deactivation due to the adiabatic twisting around ethylene-bonding in the excited trans-S1-state.
